A journey grounded in whakapapa
Kia ora, I'm Tania Jeffs — founder and owner-operator of YourNZDriver. YourNZDriver is more than a transport and touring company. It's an expression of my whakapapa, my values, and the responsibility I feel to care for those who come to experience Aotearoa New Zealand.
My heritage is Māori, Tongan and English. Through my grandmother, my whakapapa reaches deep into Waikare, Kororāreka and the Bay of Islands — part of one of the Bay of Islands' early Māori–Pākehā whānau stories, with connections to Ngāpuhi and the ancestral waka Ngātokimatawhaorua at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
For me, manaakitanga — the Māori value of welcoming and caring for people with genuine warmth, respect and generosity — is not a marketing phrase. It is an inherited value. After a successful corporate career, I founded YourNZDriver to offer travellers far more than a vehicle and a driver: a genuine welcome into New Zealand.
